This snowy egret was photographed along the shore of the Belleaire Beach Causeway in Florida. It was a breezy summer morning, leading to a near prefect display of the plumage that makes the snowy egret so special. Though not really that different from that of other large wading birds, the walk of this bird at this particular moment, which provided early morning sunlight and the perfect breeze to ruffle his feathers, seemed more like a purposeful strut, intended to show off his beauty. As if to accentuate his intention to be noticed, a few minutes later, the bird directly approached me while I knelt with my camera, coming within four feet, while not realizing that the long lens I had mounted could not focus at such close range.
